Your sauna or cold plunge ships directly from the manufacturer and arrives by freight truck. A little planning makes delivery day simple. Use this guide as a starting point, and always confirm details with the manufacturer's manual and a licensed electrician or contractor.

1. Choose your spot

  • Outdoor saunas need a solid, level base: a concrete pad, pavers, or a deck rated for the weight. If it's going on a deck, have a contractor confirm the deck can carry it.
  • Indoor saunas need a level floor, enough ceiling height, and a clear path to the room. Check the dimensions on the product page against your space, doorways, and hallways.
  • Cold plunge tubs weigh far more once filled with water. Confirm your floor, patio, or deck can support the full weight.
  • Leave room around the unit for access, airflow, and service.

2. Electrical

  • Plug-in infrared saunas and cold plunges use standard 110–120V outlets. A dedicated circuit is recommended for cold plunge tubs. Check the product page for the exact requirement.
  • Traditional saunas with electric heaters need a hardwired connection. A licensed electrician must make all heater connections, or the heater warranty is void.
  • For wood-burning heaters, check local codes and required clearances.
  • Avoid extension cords unless the manual says otherwise.

3. Plan the delivery

  • Delivery is by freight truck to the curb or the end of your driveway, often on a large 18-wheel truck. The driver won't back into your driveway or bring the product inside.
  • Make sure a large truck can reach your street and turn around, and that someone will be home.
  • Answer the freight company's calls promptly to book your delivery window.
  • Walk the path from the curb to the final spot. Measure gates, doorways, and turns, and look for steps, slopes, or soft ground.

4. Unloading heavy sauna crates

Some outdoor and indoor sauna kits, including LeisureCraft Canadian Timber saunas, ship in wooden crates about 6 to 14 feet long. Most weigh roughly 800 to 1,600 lbs, and the largest models can weigh 2,600 lbs or more in total. Each product page lists its shipping weight. You're responsible for getting the shipment off the truck.

  • Crates 84" long or shorter may fit on the truck's liftgate.
  • Longer or heavier crates can't use a liftgate. Common options: a forklift with fork extensions (lifting from the end of the crate), picking the crate up at the local freight terminal with a trailer, renting a tilt-tow truck, or a crew of helpers unpacking the crate on the truck.

Not sure which option fits your property? Ask us before you order and we'll help you plan it.

5. On delivery day

  1. Inspect the crate or packaging and the product before signing.
  2. Note any damage on the delivery receipt (Bill of Lading) before you sign. If a sauna crate arrives open or damaged, you can still accept it; write "Crate arrived open/damaged - Possible Hidden Damage."
  3. Take photos of the packaging, labels, and any damage.
  4. Email support@refreshavenue.com within 48 hours with your order number and photos. We'll handle the claim with the manufacturer.
